4-H and Youth

4-H provides fun filled, hands-on experiences under the direction of caring adults. To participate in 4-H you need to enroll in at least one project but you can take several depending on your needs and interests. In each project, you’ll develop skills that will help you become more competent at doing things on your own. You’ll also learn valuable “life skills,” those things you will use later, no matter what you do in life. 4-H is a fun way to also develop skills and hobbies you will enjoy for many years.

Hettinger County 4-H Youth Development

4-H is a fun, learn-by-doing educational program for young people.  It is the youth development program of the North Dakota State University Extension Service, but it is more than you ever imagined.  4-H Youth Development programming in Hettinger County offers opportunities for youth ages 5-18 to experience projects, club meetings, community service and a variety of events and activities while having fun, meeting new friends and learning new skills.  Youth choose project areas of interest to them and learn life skills such as responsibility, decision-making, public speaking and leadership.  Adult volunteer leaders teach projects to youth using the "learn-by-doing" method.  4-H is the larges and the only research based youth organization in the state.
