This fall has been a challenge.  We’ve experienced three different seasons since September, leaving many acres of beans and corn in the field yet to be combined.  Though we still have this year’s harvest on our minds, we need to look ahead to start planning for next year’s growing season.

Will your planting intentions change for 2019?  Don’t know yet and need a marketing update to help in your decision making Frayne has been sharing highlights and updates online at www.ag.ndsu.edu/alerts/soybean-storage; check out these helpful resources regarding soybean marketing in a changing climate.

Are you looking for a new variety to plant in 2019?  North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association (NDCISA) district meetings are coming up around the state.  NDCISA southeast district meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 3rd @ 9 am, Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Casselton.  NDCISA northeast district meeting will be Thursday, December 6th @ 9 am, Armory Building in Devils Lake.

Will 2018’s disease pressures prompt change in your farming practices for 2019?  Central Dakota Ag Day is coming up next month—Thursday, December 13th at the Carrington REC.  The program begins with coffee and doughnuts at 9 am, workshops starting at 10 am.     Ergot, Goss’s Wilt and Palmer Amaranth are topics to be shared on weed and disease pressures in our area.  The program also includes timely livestock topics, fertilizer recommendations, cover crop discussions, and marketing outlooks and strategies for 2019.

Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar.  Let unbiased and research-based information help with your decision making for the 2019 growing season. Happy Thanksgiving!
