The Extension Connection

What are you up to next Thursday? Join us for Eastern Ag Day at the Hatton Centennial Community Center on January 25th. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 am with coffee and goodies. Topics to be discussed this year include wind breaks, grain marketing, Palmer Amaranth, disease update on soybeans and dry beans, and a weather forecast for 2018 and how to use the NDAWN stations. We will wrap up the morning discussions with lunch. All are welcome to attend.

I have additional dates you can add to your calendar of upcoming events—

February 6th, Griggs County Crop Improvement Association Spring Meeting @ 10 am, Griggs County Courthouse Meeting Room. Soil health will be discussed. Naeem Kalwar, Soil Health Specialist at the Langdon REC and Luke Ressler, Soil Health Technician will present on the topic. Crop improvement business and latest seed release information will be shared. Meeting will conclude with the corn council commodity election.

February 20th, Soil Health Café Talks will be stopping in at the McVille Restaurant from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Joining Dr. Abbey Wick on soil health discussions will be Dr. Marisol Berti. Interested attendees will learn more about making cover crops work for your system and salinity management.

February 27th, Beef Cattle Update @ 12:30 pm, Aneta Auditorium. We will begin the afternoon meeting with lunch and have sessions on EPDS, alfalfa management and vaccinations. Dr. Stokka will join the Extension Agents from Griggs, Nelson and Steele counties on the presentation of these topics.

Private pesticide applicator trainings will be March 21st and March 29th. Both trainings will begin at 9:00 am and be held at the Sheyenne Tooling Community Room. The trainings are open to both those that would like to re-certify or become certified for the first time or after their certification has lapsed. Those wanting to certify for the first time or after a lapse will need to take an exam. Please call 797-3312 if you have any questions or would like to register for the trainings.
