Baby Signs

This class series offers an opportunity to learn basic language to use with young children.  Signing can be an effective, fun way to decrease frustration between you and your child.  The Baby Signs program:

  • Reduces tears, tantrums and frustration
  • Boosts self-esteem and self confidence
  • Makes learning to talk easier
  • Strengthens the parent-child bond
  • Stimulates intellectual development

The use of simple sign language with hearing children is FUN for parents and children alike!  The ideal time to begin teaching sign is when your infant is 7-9 months old.  Children will typically use sign as a "bridge to speech" until they become more verbal at 18-24 months.  In this four week Baby Signs class a total of 37 useful signs are taught through fun songs, books, and activities.  In addition, parents will learn simple ways to support their baby's intellectual development.
