Data from the 2010 Grand Forks County Ag Improvement Variety Plot

The small grain test plot was seeded on April 26th at two bushels per acre. Nitrogen was applied in the fall of 2009 at 205 pounds per acre. Because of wet and windy weather, the plots did not receive any herbicide this past season. The plots were hand weeded during the weeks prior to the plot tour. Fungicides were applied to the north half of the plots on June 22nd which included 3 ounces of headline, 2 ounces of Tilt and 4 ounces of Interlock per acre. A second fungicide application was applied on June 30th which included 13.5 ounces of Caramba, 1.28 ounces of Warrior, 1 pint per 100 gallons of water of Preference, and 4 ounces of Interlock. The first replicate of the non-fungicided plots (south half of the plots) contained a large population of foxtail. All plots were treated with Roundup on August 3rd to aid in harvesting. All replicates were included in the final data. The hard red spring wheat, barley, white wheat, and dudrum were harvested on August 9th and 11th. All yields were adjusted to 13.5% moisture.

The soybean plots were planted, maintained and harvested by AgriMax located in Fisher, MN. The plot was seeded on May 19, 2010, and was harvested on October 5, 2010. The soybean varieties were planted in a randomized three replicate design. Each plot consisted of 2-rows, seeded with 30 inch row spacing. The plots were planted in 20 foot lengths, but only 16 feet were harvested for each hplot for final yield analysis.
