Why Daily Communication with Your Child is Important

Did you know that talking to your child on school-related topics can have a significant impact on your child's achievements?

"Kids learn in homes that learn, from parents who value learning."

Another school year is about to begin and it seems like everyone is always "too busy" to do anything these days. However, it doesn't take long to sit down and talk with your child about his/her progress in school. Talking to your child on a regular basis is known to lead to higher-achieving success with children.

Talking with your children is also one of the most critical steps of healthy parenting. Children pick up on parents/guardians communication early on in life. They are fascinated at the new language and words you speak, whether they are soothing, comforting or important, your child is always listening. Start a healthy communication style early on so children feel comfortable communicating with you as the years go on.
Here are a few healthy words used when communicating with your children to let them know you are listening:

-Tell me more!

-I know.

-I am here.

-Go ahead; let it out.

Try these interactions to help your child express their feelings and thoughts of issues or concerns related to school, peer pressure and other instances children go through as they grow up.
