Lower-fat Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c whole-wheat flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 2/3 c. packed brown sugar
- 5 Tbsp. stick margarine or butter softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 large egg whites, beaten
- 2/3 c regular oats
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl mix dry ingredients. Beat sugar, margarine and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add egg whites and beat well. Stir in flour mixture and oats. Mixture should be soft, not gooey. If needed, add more flour. Drop by tablespoon 3 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until crisp. Cool on pan 2 to 3 minutes until firm. remove cookies from pan; cool on wire racks.
Makes 24 servings. Per serving: 75 calories, 2.5 grams (g) fat, 12g carbohydrate
