Honey Barbecue Sauce

This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. minced onion
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. honey
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions

Sauté onion and garlic in oil until softened. Add remaining ingredients and bring mixture to boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Sauce can be used to marinate chicken, beef or pork or it can be brushed on during grilling.

Makes 1 cup or about 16 servings.

Per 1 tablespoon serving:46 calories, 0.8 grams (g) of fat, and 11 g carbohydrates.
