This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground lean beef

1 onion, chopped

1 c. ketchup

1 c. tomato juice

1 c. cheddar cheese, shredded

Salt and Pepper to taste

8 whole-wheat buns

Directions

Brown meat and onion in a large skillet.  Drain fat and add remaining ingredients.  Simmer for about one hour.  Serve on hamburger buns.

Makes eight servings (8 sandwiches)

Each serving has 370 calories,32 grams (g) of carbohydrate, 12 g fat, 4 g fiber, 780 milligrams (mg) sodium and 4.2 mg of iron (about 25% of daily recommendation).
