Oatmeal Cookies with Raisins or Dates

Ingredients
- ¾ c. brown sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. raisins or dates
- 1 c. butter
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- Dash of salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2¼ c. all-purpose flour
- 2 c. oatmeal oats, quick (uncooked)
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- ½ tsp. cinnamon and/or ginger (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 F. Mix together and boil first six ingredients for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda; cool. Add vanilla, flour oatmeal and nuts. Bake on greased cookie sheet 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 36 servings.
Per serving: 150 calories, 8 grams (g) fat, 18 g carbohydrate and 80 mg sodium.
