This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.

¼ c. water

6 large apples

½ c. old-fashioned oats

½ c. brown sugar

3 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. allspice

3 Tbsp. pecans, chopped

2 Tbsp. butter

Add ¼ cup water to a medium-sized slow cooker.

Core the apples. Using the edge of the knife, peel off about ½ inch of the peel around the top.

Mix the oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice and pecans together and fill each apple with the mixture. Sprinkle any remaining mixture around the apples.

Top each apple with a pat (1 tsp.) of butter and place in the slow cooker. If any apples do not fit, then cut into slices to fit.

Cook on high for three hours or until apples are soft.
