This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.


•    1/2 lb. bacon, browned and drained
•    1 lb. lean ground beef, browned and drained
•    1/4 c. brown sugar
•    1 c. catsup
•    1/4 c. vinegar
•    1/4 c. mustard
•    1 (15-oz) can kidney beans
•    1 (15-oz) can butter beans
•    1 (15-oz) can lima beans
•    1 (28-oz) can baked beans
•    1 medium onion, chopped


Brown ground beef. Mix all ingredients together in a slow cooker. Cook on high for about three hours or on low for eight hours.

Makes 12 servings.

Per Serving: about 250 calories, 4.5 grams (g) of fat, 19 g protein, 240 mg sodium, 8 g fiber, and 34 g of carbohydrate.
