Barbecued Beans

This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 (16-oz.) can baked beans, undrained
  • 1 (16oz.) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 4 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 2 tsp. cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)

Directions

Brown the meat with onions in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Drain any excess fat. Spray slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low for six to eight hours or high for two hours.

Makes eight servings.

Per Serving: about 320 calories, 8 grams (g) of fat, 15 g carbohydrate, 3 g protein and 350 mg sodium
