Apple Bean Bake

This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension Service.


•    1 28-oz. can pork and beans
•    2 apples, cubed
•    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
•    1/4 tsp. cinnamon


•    To reduce fat, remove “pork” from beans and discard. Combine all ingredients in casserole dish. Cover. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Stir. Microwave on high 4 minutes longer or until apples are cooked and rise to the surface. Serve hot. Refrigerate leftovers.

Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings.

Per Serving: about 110 calories, 0 grams (g) of fat, and 5 g of fiber.
