Dry Out Before Restoring

Flood-damaged buildings must be dried out before they can be repaired.

Wood that was submerged can hold a lot of water. Rebuilding too quickly after a flood can cause the wood to deteriorate. It also can cause mold growth and insect infestations.

For more information on drying out a home or farm building, contact your county’s North Dakota State University Extension Service office or visit NDSU’s flood website at www.ag.ndsu.edu/flood.
