3-step Process for Cleaning After a Flood

Follow a three-step process for cleaning after a flood.

  1. Remove as much mud and muck as possible using shovels and a garden hose.
  2. Scrub surfaces with hot water and a heavy-duty detergent.
  3. Disinfect non-porous materials with a solution of 3/4 cup chlorine bleach per gallon of water. Let the disinfection solution stand about 5 minutes, rinse and then dry quickly.
