Leadership and research excellence recognized (1/21/2015)

Andy Robinson.JPGNational Potato Council honored Dr. Andy Robinson, Extension potato agronomist, with the Spudman 2015 Emerging Leader Award at their Jan. 9 banquet in Orlando. The award “recognizes an individual, under the age of 35, who has helped promote the growth of the potato industry and shows strong leadership qualities as well as community involvement.” North Dakota and Minnesota growers benefit from Andy’s research and educational efforts with NDSU Extension and University of Minnesota Extension sharing in his appointment. His work has already made a great impact on the potato industry in his two-year tenure.

Julie Garden-RobinsonNorthern Pulse Growers Association will present Dr. Julie Garden-Robinson, Extension food and nutrition specialist, with the Research Excellence Award at their annual convention, Jan. 27, in Minot. This award is “presented to a pulse grower, industry representative or an individual involved in the pulse research communities that exemplifies excellence within the pulse industry.” With excellent assistance from Stacy Wang, Extension associate, and Rebecca West and Becky Berg, graduate students, Julie, in the past three years has produced five publications, five videos and other materials promoting the health benefits of pulse products. This award is great recognition of her leadership and the quality work she has done with the industry.
