Three staff members add CCA to their CVs (4/4/2014)

Applause photoPlease join me in congratulating Alicia Harstad, Steele County Extension agent; Jason Goltz, Richland County Extension agent; and Lesley Lubenow, area agronomy specialist, for recently passing the Certified Crop Advisor exam, a program of the American Society of Agronomy. They join only a few other NDSU Extension Service agents and specialists who have the designation. Completion requires motivation, preparation and passing two, difficult state and international exams.

Alicia, Jason and Lesley were among an inaugural group to pilot a new assistance program NDSU Extension launched last year that offers employees help with the fees and training with Extension specialists who want to help them succeed.  “It’s important that agents have time to prepare since the exams, especially the North Dakota one, are rather difficult and cover several disciplines,” said Mohamed Khan, who coordinated the training and study sessions.

The pilot was a success on many levels and will be continued with another opportunity announced in late spring.
