Even more awards! (10/4/2013)

Applause photoIn case you missed it in Let's Communicate, Extension staff received additional honors recently.

The Winter Survival Kit and Disaster Recovery Log phone apps that Ag Comm developed with Myriad Devices were honored with the White House Champion of Change in Community Preparedness and Resilience award. Earlier they had won the FEMA Innovative Use of Technology award. Kudos to Bob Bertsch, web technology specialist, and Becky Koch, Ag Communication director.

The “Home Lawn Problems and Solutions for North Dakota” publication by Janet Knodel, Extension entomologist, Ron Smith now retired Extension horticulturist, and Alan Zuk, assistant professor in Plant Sciences, was selected as a Notable Government Document of 2012 by the American Library Association’s Government Documents Roundtable.

And, we've learned of more awards received at the Galaxy Conference:

Lori Scharmer, interim family economics specialist, and University of Minnesota faculty/staff, received the Epsilon Sigma Phi Distinguished Team Award for "Recovery After Disaster: The Family Financial Toolkit." Lori's impact report will tell you more about it.

And Todd Weinmann, Cass County Extension agent, received three additional awards. He was national finalist in Search for Excellence in Landscape Horticulture, regional finalist in Communications for the “Gardening Delights for All" publication, and state finalist in Communications for the video “Raised Bed Gardening with Youth.”

Keep up the great work!
