Extension Staff Directory overhauled (1/29/2015)

Agriculture Communication and the Director’s Office are pleased to announce a makeover of the online Extension staff directory. The new directory is built from an online database, and it’s mobile friendly. The directory includes information that’s always been available to the public (names, titles, addresses, emails, etc.), and the database that feeds it has more information available only to our staff. For instance, do you need to introduce a specialist at your county meeting? Log into the database and look up her background. Do you think you’ll run into that new agent at today’s meeting and you want to make sure you remember what he looks like? Glance at his photo.

Basic information is preloaded, and Lori Lymburner will continue to keep that up to date, but the full usefulness of the directory will be available only if we all add additional information to the database, so please follow these steps.

  1. Log into to the Ag Info Center (the same place used for submitting Quarterly Program Reports, calendar items and FeedList entries) with your Ag Info Center username and password (bkoch, not becky.koch, for example). Contact the help desk at 231-8685 if you've forgotten your login info.
  2. Click on People in the tab across the top or under applications. You will see a page with some information about you in a table.
  3. Enter more information about yourself. All blank fields are optional, so don't feel that you must enter personal information if you don't want to. However, only the information that shows in our public directory is public, with the exception of photos. All of the other info is available only to logged-in NDSU Ag faculty and staff. Try to write information so it isn't dated, and update it as needed.
  4. Please include a photo of yourself (not the Extension logo, your favorite pet, etc.) to help our staff and clients get to know us better. Photos must be in JPG or PNG format. Photos show in the public directory.
  5. When finished, click on the "Save Entry" button at the bottom of the form. If you do not want to save the changes you've made, click on the close button (blue box with a white X) in the upper right-hand corner of the form.
  6. You can see what your entry will look like by clicking on the "Show" link in the table. At this point, the program is set to show minimal information.
  7. You can search for someone using the search input field in the left column.
  8. Log out when you're done using the application.

Click around in the public directory to see how it’s organized, and log into the internal database to find more about your colleagues.

If you see any errors in the directory, send them to Becky Koch, and she’ll get them to the right person.

A big thank you to Roger Egeberg, software developer, and Lori Lymburner, assistant to the Extension director, who have spent many hours on this project and for their on-going work maintaining it. And also an advance thanks to all of you as you add information to your database profile to make our directory even more useful.
