Minutes of Upsilon Chapter
Epsilon Sigma Phi, Oct. 20, 2004
The annual meeting of the Upsilon Chapter of ESP was held during fall extension conference at the Fargo Doublewood Inn on October 20, 2004.
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Anderson at I 2:25pm.
The ESP creed was read.
Guests present were: Tom Martindale, Jim Kenward, Pat Beck, Hugh McDonald, Gary Moran and Wayne Hankel
News on members:
Ed Vasey is very ill and is in the hospital
Elmer Vangsness is in the hospital
Marv Condon is on dialysis
Jerry Larson had a heart attack
Bill Pietsch passed away and was remembered in a moment of silence
Secretary and Treasurers reports were reviewed and approved.
Audit- John Kringler reviewed the treasurers book and approved the income and expenses
History- Gary Moran reported that the extension history is near completion. It will be available online and some paper copies will be printed as well. Gary also mentioned that
University extension archives are looking for memorabilia.
Membership- Vanessa Haines reported that membership is increasing.
Professional Development and Recognition- Sharon Kickertz-Gerbig is looking for applications for Prof, Dev.and Recognition by Feb. 1.
Member Services Scholarships- Jackie Buckley will be looking for award nominations.
Nominations- no report.
Global Relations- Karen Zotz reported that ESP is sponsoring study tours to 1994 schools.
JCEP North Dakota- Willie Huot reported that all associations are working together as a group. It helps solve a lot of problems.
National ESP Conference- Kathy Tweeten attended and presented a short report.
A Chapter Distinguished Service Award was presented to Eugene Elhard at the meeting. Kathy also repmied that Upsilon chapter members have an excellent
chance of winning awards if applications are submitted.
She also mentioned that Sharon Anderson was the conference keynote speaker. Also, dues payment deadline is being moved up to Feb. 1.
New Member Initiation- Vanessa Haines, Peggy Anderson and Dave Rice inducted two new members into
Upsilon Chapter. They are: Mohammad Kahn and Carrie Stark
A motion was moved to have the ESP president elected at the 2005 fall meeting. Approved.
The current Secretary-Treasurer and Annalist will continue in their positions. Positions are filled on even numbered years.
Announcements of Professional meeting dates that are coming up were made.
