Minutes of the October 16, 2003 ESP Meeting

Minutes of Upsilon Chapter
Epsilon Sigma Phi,   October 16, 2003

A meeting of the Upsilon Chapter of ESP was held during fall extension conference at the Fargo Doublewood Inn on October 16, 2003.

The meeting was called to order by chair Kathy Tweeten at 11:45 AM. The ESP creed was read.

Life members in attendance were introduced. They were: Ron Anderson, Katherine Iverson, Tom Reff, Gary Moran, Harvey Hirning, Tom Martindale, Leonard Biewer, Morrie Davidson, Darnell Lundstrom, Wayne Hankel, Dexter Johnson and Art Lamey.

Adloph Gross and Robert Askew passed away. A moment of silence was observed.

The secretary and treasurers reports were reviewed and approved as submitted.

The initiation of two new members was held. They are: Bruce Sundeen and Brad Brummond

The new members took the ESP creed which was led by Dave Rice.

Committee Reports:
History & Retirees: Gary Moran- Provided a display of many previous newspaper clippings and information on retirees monthly meetings.
Membership: Peggy Anderson- Cunently  has 60 members registered and is collecting dues for 2004. Dues are $40.00.
Recognition: Sharon Kickertz-Gerbig-  Awards nominations are due in January. Awards as well as new awards are listed on the NDSU Ext. website. New awards include "State Intemational Service  
Award", "State Team Award", "State Tenure 25 Year Recognition Award", and "State Retirement Certificates".   Everyone is encouraged to nominate.
Scholarship: Jackie Buckley mentioned that applications need to be submitted.
Global Relations: Karen Zotz- Mentioned there are opportunities  available for intemational study.

Old Business:

Ron Anderson reported on the National ESP Endowment  Fund. Three ND organizations have donated.
Over $7000 was given or pledged up to this time and Y2 goes to the national fund and Y2 remains in
a local fund. Additional donations are welcome.

A 75th ESP anniversary clock was presented to Ron Anderson  and another will be given away based on trivia quiz answers.

The Galaxy II Conference was held in Salt Lake City with an excellent group in attendance.

New Business:

Upsilon Chapter is to pay $500 to the ESP Endowment fund.

The 2004 National ESP Conference will be held on Sept. 14-18 in Moline, Ill. The JCEP Regional Meeting is to be held in Chicago on Feb. 22-24.
Public Issues Leadership Development  Conference to be held in Washington DC on May 2-5.

NorthCentral Region is to elect a new VP in 2004. Looking for nominations.
