Minutes of Upsilon Chapter Meeting
Epsilon Sigma Phi,   April 3, 2003


A meeting of the Upsilon Chapter of ESP was held during spring extension conference at the Fargo Doublewood  Inn on April 3, 2003.


The meeting was called to order by chair Clint Gienger at 12:05 PM. The ESP Creed was read.


Life members in attendance were introduced. They were: Art Lamey, Wayne Colberg, Ron Anderson, Darnell Lundstrom, Gary Moran, Harry Hecht, Hugh McDonald, Pat Beck, Jim Kenward and Don Peterson.

Kermit Toepke and Ann Green passed away. A moment of silence was observed. Sharon Anderson presented a report on the condition of Bill Pietsch at the Arthur Retirement home.


The secretary and treasurers reports were reviewed and approved as submitted.

Committee Reports:
Audit: John Kringler- The treasurers report was reviewed  and approved.

Recognition: Sharon Kickertz-Gerbig- Mentioned the member recognition awards that are available and new awards available from ESP.

Membership:  Peggy Anderson- Currently has 60 members registered.  Will be starting a new drive for fall.

History & Retirees:  Gary Moran- Working on updating the history of the NDSU Extension.

Scholarship:  Jackie Buckley- Has one application for a scholarship.

Global Relations: Karen Zotz-
Kathy Tweeten provided a report on the  JCEP meeting which was held in Kansas City in February. 
This year ESP is celebrating  the 75th anniversary of the organization. 
Upsilon was one of the first chapters to form which was in 1928. Information  is on the website.

New Business:
A Public Issues Leadership  Conference is to be held in Arlington, Va. on May 4-7, 2003. Information  is on the website.


Galaxy II Conference is to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sept. 21-25, 2003.

 

Ron Anderson report on Endowment  fund- National ESP is beginning an Endowment  campaign of $500,000 to improve Extension  staff. Upsilon chapter
will start a companion endowment fund. National and local will share funds collected equally. Collections will begin in June and all contributions are tax deductible.

Discussion on endowment- Moved by Marcia M., seconded by Andrew T. for Upsilon Chapter to provide $500.00 to the national endowment. Approved.

All Approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:50 PM.
