Call to Order: Greg Endres, President, Upsilon Chapter of ESP

Additions to the agenda?

Introduction of Life Members and Guest: J.W Schroeder, Life Member.
Guests: Brenden Klebe, recently hired Pierce Co. Agent; Katie Henry, recently hired Agent from Cavalier Co.; Madeline Smith, recently hired from Pembina Co.; Shaundra Ziemann-Bolinske, Burleigh Co. Agent; and Greg Lardy VP of Ag Affairs.

Administration Update: Greg Lardy, VP of Ag Affairs and Lynette Flage Associate Director for Extension

Additions to the agenda: No adjustments were suggested.

Parliamentarian: Dean Aakre was appointed to oversee the meeting by President Endres

Moment of Silence to Reflect on Recently Passed Life Members: Thomas Martindale, Jane Winge, Gary Moran.

Thought or Word of the Day: Jodi Bruns, President Elect, discussed the diversity of the membership.

Secretary’s report: Andrew Thostenson presented the minutes from the 2019 meeting. Motion to approve without modification was moved, seconded, and approved without dissent.

Treasurer’s report: Andrew Thostenson presented the financial report for 2020. They were reviewed and found in order by Dean Aakre. Motion to approve without modification was moved, seconded, and approved without dissent.


  • Audit: Dean Aakre reported 2020 financials were in order.
  • President Report: Greg Endres thanked officers and members for their efforts. Reported on travels to National Convention in 2019 and the 2020 Virtual Conference. Reflected on the opportunities to meet diverse people in Extension via ESP.
  • Public Issues and Publicity: Lynette Flage discussed Public Issues Leadership Conference (PILD) from April 2020 and a look ahead to 2021.\
  • Global Relations: Marcia Hellandsaas reported ESP international organization and activities. She mention their support of Cambodian Students
  • History and Retirees: Duane Hauck. No report.
  • Membership and Recruitment: Vanessa Hoines, Chair, reported 34 total members.
  • Nominating Committee: Bradley Cogdill, Chair. No report as all officers either accepted an additional term or their terms were not up for renewal.
  • Recognition: Jim Gray thanked the award nominees and reported on them. The award recipients can be found here:
  • Professional Development and Scholarship: Greg Endres recognized 2020 awardees, Emily Goff and Kayla Carlson. They shared, via ZOOM how they are utilizing these funds to further their education. The following were selected for 2021:

o Rene Gress: Myron and Muriel Johnsrud Profession Development Award
o Susan Finneseth: Bearfield-Bale Scholarship
o Kayla Carlson: ESP Memorial Scholarship

Motion to approve reports without modification was moved, seconded, and approved without dissent.

Induction of New Members: Lindy Berg, Analyst

 Page Brummond, ANR Agent Ward Co.

National Meeting Report: Greg Endres invited NDSU’s 2020 participants, to share reflections on their participation. (Seven members attended virtually. A record number!) All found it useful and inspiring. They encouraged participation in 2021.

New Business:

  • Andrew Thostenson suggested that the Secretary and Treasurer position be split in two. Greg will refer this to the By-laws Committee for possible action for 2021.
  • Extension Professional Creed: Jodi Bruns recited it for the membership.

    Adjourn: Motion was moved, seconded, and approved without dissent.
