Sportfishing
Overview
We are hoping to develop the sportfishing program into the next big thing! To kick off this effort, the North Dakota 4-H Environmental Project which includes shooting sports and sportfishing, is launching 3 ice fishing challenges in the next couple weeks. Youth ages 6-18 years old will compete virtually on any lake for awards in 4 fish categories: largest walleye and northern pike, and the largest stringer of 3 fish in perch and crappies. Fish will be measured nose to tail on scaled ruler and submitted through the phone app FishDonkey. Registration will be free on 4-H Online with the download and registration in the Ice Challenges $10 per tournament on the phone app. Youth can ice fish anywhere in North Dakota. Open water is off limits.
For registration: Register on 4-H Online for free to be in the activity. You only have to register in 4-H Online once and just check off what you will be doing. Next, down load the FishDonkey App at FishDonkey.com and register in “The North Dakota 4-H Ice Challenge I”. Cost of each tournament is $10. We will send out announcements to each participant as we complete registration for the next challenge.
