Livestock Judging 

Livestock Judging 

Livestock judging consists of carefully analyzing a group of animals and measuring them against a standard that is commonly accepted as being ideal. Dickey County Livestock Judging runs from December-March. Team members practice and attend competitions during the season.



Hippology is an activity to test participant’s knowledge and understanding of horse science in a friendly but competitive setting. The event generally has four phases: 1. Written test, 2. Stations identification, 3. Team problem, 4. Horse judging. Hippology runs from November- April with practices and competitions. Contact Breana Kiser for information. 


Crop Judging 

Crop judging participants evaluate crops for seed and factors affecting market quality, and identify crop and weed seeds and plants. Becoming a proficient crop judge includes, identification of crops grown in North Dakota and the region, the correct identification of weed mounts and weed seeds. Judging season is from January- March with weekly practices. If interested please contact the county office.
