Change in Use Area for Flexstar

On March 3, 2017, the North Dakota Department of Agriculture issued FIFRA Section 24(c) Special Local Needs (SLN) registration ND-170001 to Syngenta Crop Protection LLC. This SLN registration expands the number of counties Flexstar (EPA Reg. No. 100-1101, active ingredient sodium salt of fomesafen) can be applied to soybeans in ND. This SLN registration expires on December 31, 2021.

For improved activity of Flexstar, apply to small weeds at water volume >15 gpa, with an oil adjuvant at 1 to 2 pt/A, and in full sunlight with warm temperature. MSO adjuvant at 1 to 2 pt/A + AMS at 8.5 lbs/100 gal water will increase weed control and risk of crop injury. Apply Flexstar at 0.75 pt/A in ND east of Hwy 281 and in the following counties west of Hwy 281: Benson, Bottineau, Burleigh, Dickey, Eddy, Emmons, Foster, Grant, Kidder, LaMoure, Logan, McHenry, McIntosh, McLean, Mercer, Morton, Oliver, Pierce, Renville, Rolette, Sheridan, Sioux, Stutsman, Towner, Ward, and Wells.

Restrictions for west of Hwy 281:

- Do not apply to soil with greater than 4% organic matter because more of the active ingredient will be bound to the higher level of organic matter preventing microbial degradation.

- Do not apply after June 20 to allow sufficient time for microbes to degrade the active ingredient and not result in crop rotations different than those listed on the label.
