Southwest ND (07/06/17)

Information from the Southwest region of North Dakota.

Canola and flax are continuing to bloom. Winter wheat fields that were not cut for hay in the region are beginning to turn color. There were scattered storms over the past week that brought in some rain. More rain is needed. From Wednesday, 6/28 to Wednesday 7/5, NDAWN recorded 0.58 inch of rain in Dickinson and up to 0.73 inch of rain in Beach. The Hettinger NDAWN station recorded no rainfall over this same period. Most fields are showing drought stress.

The Dickinson Research Extension Center Field Day is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Center Headquarters, at 1041 State Ave, Dickinson ND 58601 from 8:50 a.m. to noon (Mountain time).
