Northeast ND (05/24/18)

Information from the Northeast region of North Dakota.

Rain reports varied from 0.3” to 1.2” in the region from last weekend’s storm. Soybean, dry bean and canola seeding is strongly underway. Some farmers will finish seeding this week. Fertilizer applicators have been busy this week. Corn is slow to emerge. Early seeded canola is emerging. Flea beetles are present. Typically, Memorial Day weekend is when their populations peak. So, scout emerging canola fields regularly. The spray threshold is when defoliation is reaching 25% and flea beetles are present in the field.
