North Central ND (08/27/20)

Information from the North Central region of North Dakota

Hit and miss showers were the rule on Sunday across the region. The following are observed reports of precipitation throughout the area for the last week (week starting August 16th): Minot: 0.00” (NCREC 0.01”); Bottineau: 0.00”; Garrison: 0.02”; Karlsruhe: 0.53”; Mohall: 0.00”; Plaza: 0.00”; and Rugby: 0.28”. Bare soil temperature at the NCREC was observed at 76F as of August 16th.

Small grains and pulse harvest continue in the region. At the NCREC, field peas and lentils are out while chickpea continues to dry. Canola swathing is underway. As previously mentioned, the next generation of adult canola flea beetle has emerged. Calls related to canola flea beetle have been focused in area gardens as those adults begin to move to those habitats as canola matures.
