North Central ND (05/28/15)

Information from the North Central region of North Dakota.

No precipitation was received at the North Central Research Extension Center this past week (May 19 to 26). Additionally, most NDAWN sites in the area did not report any measurable precipitation. Soil temperatures in the area are an average of 10 degrees warmer than the same time last week. Corn GDD for the NCREC based on a May 1 planting are 156, indicating that this corn is most likely emerged.

Reports of heavy flea beetle damage have been reported and some producers have already made insecticide applications. More striped flea beetles have been observed that crucifer flea beetles. Some very shallow seeded canola is being replanted in Bottineau County.
