IPM Survey – Wheat Disease Update

The IPM survey scouts visited 112 wheat fields last week and found tan spot in approximately 35% of the fields. The highest levels of tan spot severity were found in wheat-on-wheat ground. This comes as no surprise as the pathogen causing tan spot overwinters on wheat residue. A few more reports of stripe rust were documented with most of the lesions being found on the oldest leaves. Continue to scout fields for stripe rust, especially in areas with cool nighttime temperatures (below 60˚F) and heavy morning dews.
