Fusarium Head Blight (Scab) Risk

A few winter wheat fields have headed in the state and will be approaching flowering soon. Now is a good time to start using the scab models to assess scab risk. As a reminder, there are two models available: the NDSU Small Grain Disease Forecasting Model and the National Fusarium Head Blight Prediction center. Currently, both models show that the entire state is under low scab risk (Figures 1 and 2). Low humidity values in addition to infrequent rain events have contributed to the low scab risk.
