The current degree day map indicates that 10-50% of wheat midge females are emerging.

See last week article in the Crop & Pest Report #8 for more information about “WHEAT MIDGE DEGREE DAYS FOR SCOUTING.” We have a small number of wheat midge pheromone traps out in the northern tier of the state. Most traps are catching low numbers of wheat midge, <5 per trap per week; however, Williston had higher numbers at 25 midges per trap per week.
