European Corn Borer Update (07/23/20)
For the univoltine Z-race European corn borer (ECB) moth, traps catches declined, with an average of 9 moths per trap per week compared to 45 moths per trap per week last week (see trapping map). Crop stages were mainly tasseling to silk in southeastern North Dakota. The highest trap catch was 23 moths per trap per week near Buffalo, Cass County and 25 moths per trap per week near Finley, Steele County. The univoltine Z-race ECB moth is 100% emerged in most corn growing areas based on the >1274 accumulated degree days (ADD) (see DD map).
No bivoltine E-race ECB moth were captured last week. Weekly maps of the trapping results for European corn borer moths are posted on the IPM website.
