Support Staff Conference

Purpose of the conference:

Provide a biennial opportunity for support staff to engage in informal networking and formal educational opportunities that meet the organization's and individuals' needs.The program includes sessions for professional and personal development and provides an opportunity to recognize staff for years of service and other awards.


The conference is hosted by NDSU Extension and designed for support staff from the following entities:

  • NDSU Extension 
  • NDSU College of Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources
  • NDSU College of Human Development and Education
  • North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and Research Extension Centers
  • Northern Crops Institute

The audience consists of about 150 administrative assistants, press operators, secretaries, technicians, graphic designers, accountants, and other support staff located in offices on campus, at county Extension offices, Research Extension Centers and district offices throughout the state.    

Purpose of the planning committee:

  • Serve as a working committee to plan and deliver the Support Staff Conference, which includes carrying out the tasks listed in Conference Responsibilities and following the Conference Calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work in collaboration with the Extension Leadership Team (ELT) and other entities to manage a conference that meets the needs of both the organization and its employees.
  • Provide leadership and team-building experiences for the committee members.
  • Make specific arrangements for the conference and work in partnership with the conference coordinator, Elizabeth Cronin, and ELT member, Becky Koch, who provide logistical support. Every effort will be made to help the committee avoid common pitfalls and to meet the overall conference purposes as listed above.
