Extension/REC Fall Conference

Purpose of the conference:

  • Annually bring together agents, specialists and REC staff for informal networking, program planning and formal educational opportunities that meet the organization’s and individual’s needs. Fall conference does not target in-depth subject matter training. Subject matter training is offered throughout the year.
  • Provide an annual education experience related to the mission of the Change Agents Catalyst Team to comply with federal requirements for annual educational in-service. The Change Agents team makes a recommendation for a session and the committee can work in collaboration with them to carry it out or negotiate another option that meets with approval of both committees. (The Change Agents Catalyst Team is a combination of county, state and campus staff members all working towards the common goal to build the capacity of the Land-Grant system to function inclusively and effectively in a multicultural world. The dimensions of diversity include gender, religious beliefs, race, marital status, ethnicity, parental status, age, education, physical and mental ability, income, sexual orientation, occupation, language, geographic location and many more components.)
  • Provide time for the following professional associations to meet North Dakota Association of Agricultural Extension Agents, North Dakota Association of Extension 4-H Youth Workers, North Dakota Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, North Dakota Joint Council of Extension Professionals, Research Extension Center Associations, Foundation Seedstock Program and Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi.

Purpose of the planning committee:

  • Serve as a working committee to plan and deliver the Fall Conference, which includes carrying out the tasks listed in Conference Responsibilities and following the Conference Calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work in collaboration with the Extension Leadership Team (ELT) and other entities to manage a conference that meets the needs of both the organization and its employees.
  • Provide leadership and team-building experiences for the committee members.
  • Make specific arrangements for the conference and work in partnership with the conference coordinator (Elizabeth Cronin) and ELT members (Becky Koch and Jim Gray) who provide logistical support. Every effort will be made to help the committee avoid common pitfalls and to meet the overall conference purposes as listed above.
