Aging and Health in America 2013

Recently, the Aging and Health in America 2013 report was released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The purpose of the report is to measure how well our country and communities are dealing with threats to the aging population. The report can be viewed as a report card of progress in public health.

Fourteen Extension and community educators from across the state have completed training to be a class leader for Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Every day over 65 million Americans act as family caregivers. They provide a vast array of emotional, financial, nursing, social, homemaking and other services on a daily or intermittent basis.

North Dakota's Aging Population

The NDSU Extension Service has partnered with the Center for Social Research at NDSU to publish a new aging population brief, North Dakota’s Aging Population: Profile and Trends of Seniors Ages 65 and Older. The 4-page document presents a picture of the health, finances, and well-being of adults ages 65 and older in North Dakota. The brief focuses on well-being indicators including population, health care, economics, health risks and behaviors, and health status, as well as cognitive impairment and caregiving.
