4-H Livestock Program
Cass County 4-H Livestock Program Information
All 4-H livestock project animals must have an ear tag or and ID for the animals to be exhibited at the Cass County 4-H Achievement Days. It is the responsibility of the 4-H member and parent to make sure that their 4-H project animal(s) are properly tagged or have an ID. Along with proper identification, members must have a photo of their animal and animal ID. This photo may be sent by email, text and/or mailed into the office along with the Livestock Identification Form by May 15, 2018 Click HERE for the Livestock Identification Form.
4-H animals may be identified by tag, ear notch (swine), and/or scrapie ID (sheep/goats). If the animal does not have a tag, the county 4-H office still has the 4-H green tags for families to purchase for $1/tag.
A tag/ID must be present in every animal that is shown at the Cass County Achievement Days. If your identification form and/or pictures are not received by May 15th, the animal is not allowed to be exhibited.
Youth Livestock Quality Assurance Programs
This is an exciting opportunity to educate our young people in North Dakota on the importance of animal care, food safety and to better prepare them for future roles in agriculture. It is essential for our youth to know their role in providing safe products to consumers. We are excited to utilize Youth Quality Care of Animals to “make the best better.”
The North Dakota State 4-H office is requiring youth participating at the State Fair with livestock, to be certified through the YQCA program.
