NDSU Extension is showcasing three opportunities for youth in the next several weeks

  1. Youth Day Camp: Sustainable Ag meets Mindful Eating for children grades K-3rd
Thursday, Oct. 17 from 8:30am-4pm (no school, no holiday)
Drop youth off and pick up at the BisMan Co-op - 711 E Sweet Ave, Bismarck, ND.
The School's Out Program offers eight fun-filled, non-holiday days off school
programs. This first day camp is conveniently offered thanks to a collaboration with
Inner Ground Work's School's Out Program, the BisMan Community Food Co-op
and NDSU Extension-Burleigh County. NDSU Extension-Burleigh County will
provide a healthy snack class, youth take a bus to visit to a local farm, as well as
preventative mental health strategies and more activities related to the BisMan Food

  1. Make your own bath bombs: project day with Burleigh County 4-H for youth ages 5-7. Event is limited to 20 youth. There is no requirement to be a 4-H member to attend.

Friday, November 1, 2019 from 10:30 am to noon. Please bring any bath bomb molds you may have. The location is the Joann Hetzel 4-H building (3715 E Bismarck Expressway). Payment of $5 may be made via cash or check. Register online: https://tinyurl.com/y8ex6et4

  1. Home Alone: Are You Ready? class for youth ages 9-12 to be held Thursday, October 17 from 1:15 pm to 4:00 pm at 3715 E Bismarck Expressway. This program will teach kids what they need to know to stay safe and healthy when they are on their own. NDSU Extension – Burleigh County partners with Bismarck Police, Burleigh Emergency Management, Bismarck Fire Department, Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, Bismarck Parks and Rec Dept and the NDDOH. Register online at https://tinyurl.com/y5gwobzr. There is a $5 registration fee for the class. This can be paid by cash or check and must be paid by October 10, 2019. You can drop off payment or mail payment to Burleigh County Extension, 3715 E Bismarck Expressway, Bismarck ND 58501.


Programming for adults starting in October is as follows, please register today!


  1. Stepping On is an evidence-based falls prevention program offered one day a week for seven weeks. Touchmark will host sessions on Thursdays Oct. 10, 17, 24, 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21. Pre-registration is required with Destiny at 701-355-1285. 40% of people who enter a nursing home had a fall in the prior 30 days.


  1. From Field to Farmhouse is a program geared to adults on Oct. 18, 2019 from 10am-3pm. There will be two guest speakers on the subject of asset values, macroeconomics and farm financial outlook as well as the stress that rural youth are experiencing. It will be held at Farm Credit Services of Mandan, each ticket is $20 including lunch, to register click https://tinyurl.com/y45klwmt.
