One of my job responsibilities is to offer educational programming for commercial horticulture producers. I know that a fair number of Master Gardeners grow produce for farmers markets or are considering doing so. The NDSU Extension High Tunnel Conference may appeal to you and I am a pleased to announce that registration is now open. The conference is scheduled for March 24th and 25th here in Fargo. We are very fortunate to have sponsors so we are able to offer a registration fee of $40 for the two-day conference. What a great value!

Our keynote speakers are Terry Nennich (retired University of Minnesota Extension Service) and Kathy Demchak (Penn State). Terry Nennich will focus on high tunnel vegetable production while Kathy Demchak will discuss both high tunnel strawberry and bramble production. On both days, we will also offer short, interactive sessions where you can learn important techniques like scouting for insect pests, trellising vine crops, trapping for spotted wing drosophila, tomato grafting, flower arranging for farmers markets, and irrigation. We will also discuss our research from the NDSU high tunnel project. Please see the attached schedule for a full list of speakers and topics. Our topics were selected to appeal to both high tunnel novices and advanced commercial producers.

Registration is online only:  https://epayment.ndus.nodak.edu/C22800_ustores/web/store_main.jsp?STOREID=22&SINGLESTORE=true

Registration will close on March 8th. The registration link will also give information on a block of rooms at Candlewood Suites, Fargo, if you are looking for accommodations. The discounted rate for hotel rooms is only available through February 22nd.
