Crop Opportunities 2021

Crop Opportunities 2021

There are many farming opportunities, concerns, and new challenges for 2021. NDSU Extension agents in the Northwest and North Central area have put together a program which will be offered via “Zoom” on December 15th at 9 a.m. and run approximately until 12 p.m.

The morning’s topics will include several economic and production related subjects. Bryon Parman, NDSU Agricultural Finance Specialist will discuss current forecasts and crop production estimates in his “Ag Budgeting 2021” presentation.

“Economic Thresholds for Ag Pests” will be the topics addressed by TJ Prochaska, NDSU Crop Protection Specialist. TJ will discuss the reasons for utilizing these thresholds and explain how they are arrived at. He will discuss some of the current recommendations for our crops in the northwest.

Bryan Jenks, NDSU Weed Scientist will give us a “Weed Control Update” for the 2021 season. He will address new herbicides, concerns with invasive weeds and weed management/crop rotation issues.

A crop marketing update will be the focus of Frayne Olson, NDSU Crops Economist. Frayne’s knowledge of crop trends and market reactions on a local and global market will help us weed through the decisions needed for planting 2021 considerations.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required. To register go to https://tinyurl.com/CropOutlook2021. After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

As mentioned above, this program will be offered via “Zoom” due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Zoom is a very simple media transfer platform to use. If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, please contact my office and we can get you set up for Zoom prior to this meeting. Give our office a call at 701-377-2927 any time prior to this program and we will work with you to get Zoom installed and make sure you are comfortable using it. The only requirement for this program is an internet connection. It can be installed on your computer, tablet, phone, etc.
