Project Safe Send

One last reminder about project Safe Send.  Project Safe Send is coming to the NDDOT facility in Bowbells on July 15th. This is your chance to properly dispose of these old pesticides. This includes liquid and granular herbicides, insecticides, old grasshopper and gopher poisons. It does not include paint.

To dispose of old paint remember that most landfills will accept paint if the containers have been opened and the product is completely dried. Check with your local landfill or waste disposal company before taking it to the landfill or putting it in your trash.

For more information contact the Burke County Extension Office at 377-2927 or email me at dan.folske@ndsu.edu

Crop Disease

Most crop diseases flourish in warm, wet weather. According to the disease forecasting models based on NDAWN weather data most susceptible and moderately susceptible spring wheat and durum varieties are currently at high risk of fusarium (scab) infections if they are at a susceptible growth stage. Check out the disease forecasting models on the NDAWN website to help make decisions about fungicide applications.

Go http://ndawn.ndsu.nodak.edu/  and follow the applications menu on the left. Click on “Applications”, then click on “Wheat & Small Grains Disease Forecaster”. Scroll down and click on the NDAWN station in your region and on the button corresponding to your crop growth stage. Then click on “Get Forecast”
