Position:       Ag Technician

Duration:      Late May to August 2007

Description: Assist the Director and livestock specialist in carrying out the day-to-day duties associated with maintaining a commercial livestock research herd, caring for the livestock herd, repairing/maintaining station facilities and equipment, and seeding and harvesting hay and grain crops.

Minimum qualifications: Applicant must be at least 17 years old. Experience in operating farm/ranch machinery including tractors, tillage equipment, haying equipment, feeding equipment, trucks and trailers.

Qualifications preferred but not required: Have experience in working with a beef cow herd including checking animal health, treating sick animals, and feeding livestock. Experience with repairing farm/livestock equipment; operating construction equipment (backhoe, dozer, dump truck). Ability to operate shop equipment including arc and gas welders. Experience in performing preventative maintenance of farm equipment
