Explanation of Site Terms

A land area of 380 acres was divided into 12 pastures for the grazing intensity study at the CGREC.  We used three pastures for a plant ecophysiological study: pasture 11 (extreme grazing), pasture 5 (moderate grazing), and pasture 6 (extreme grazing). In each of the three pastures, three plots are used for drought treatment: Control (C), Drought (D), and Average (A).  In pastures 11 and 6, we have two exclosures (ungrazed) for comparison.  The site codes are explained in the following table.

5 A Average (rainfall) plot in pasture 5 (moderate grazing)
5 C Control plot in pasture 5 (moderate grazing)
5 D Drought plot in pasture 5 (moderate grazing)
6 X An exclosure in pasture 6 (ungrazed)
11 A Average (rainfall) plot in pasture 11 (extreme grazing)
11 C Control plot in pasture 11 (extreme grazing)
11 D Drought plot in pasture 11 (extreme grazing)
11 SX An exclosure in pasture 6 (ungrazed)
