Two legumes (alfalfa and yellow sweetclover) and two grasses (tall wheatgrass and intermediate wheatgrass) were seeded 13 years ago. Other species were grown naturally. The category "miscforb" combines several forb species (occasionally shrubs included also) with very low LAI values, so as to make the sub-figure more readable. Actually all the LAI’s of forbs recorded in this study are individually measured. A forb may be included in the "miscforb" category in one sub-figure, but it may be separately displayed in other figures as long as its value is not too low or the sub-figure is not cluttered with data stacks. The category "miscgra" represents miscellaneous grasses for which the LAI’s were not measured individually but as a whole. Species codes and corresponding full names are listed in Table 3. Details of "miscforb" category are given in Table 5.
