This table is intended to help producers identify the best varieties for their heavy, low-pH, clay soils. Past research has shown genetic differences among varieties for the ability to recover from stunting due to excess moisture on a heavy clay, low-pH soil. The wet column represents a test with six replicates where overhead irrigation was applied to simulate a wet year. The dry column represents natural rain-fed conditions. Producers should try to identify a variety that yields well under both conditions.
