Dickinson Research Extension
Location: Dickinson Research Extension Center , Dickinson , ND
Purpose: To provide assistance in implementing the extension agronomy program with special emphasis in pest management. We are seeking candidates for this 40 hour/week, 12-week positions that will begin on or about May 16, 2005.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to cooperating and assisting in collecting data using hand held computers/GPS systems for wheat, barley, canola, and sunflower surveys, assisting area extension agronomist in conducting demonstrations and field research in root disease, fungicide trials, crop rotations, and integrated pest management programs. Initiate contacts with producers and county agents in conducting pest surveys. Responsibilities also include working within a team environment to promote positive, accurate workmanship and harmonious relations among fellow employees. Applicants must be willing to work four 10-hour days per week.
Educational Qualifications Desired: Preference given to individual with 2 years or more of college/university education. Preference will be given to those with education in integrated pest management, plant pathology, entomology, agronomy, biology or a closely related field of study.
Competencies and Experience Desired: Communications skills, work accuracy and timeliness are essential. Must be self-motivated, flexible, and able to work with limited supervision. Require an individual who is capable of highly detailed work. Computer skills are desirable. Agricultural background helpful. Valid driver's license required.
Salary : $8.00/hr or compensation is commensurate with qualifications, plus per diem. This work experience is applicable for college credit.
