Figure 3.  After the plastic was removed, producers farmed through the plot area with their normal farming practices.  Since methyl bromide is heavier than air, the fumigant penetrates through straw and soil to kill fungi.  This is the no-till planting on continuous wheat at the Williston Research Extension Center, Williston, ND.  The natural soil plot is in the foreground and the fumigated plot is immediatley behind.  (photo by Jim Staricka)
