Figure 1. Edges of the plastic sheet are slipped into the trench and held in place with soil. Additional soil is placed in the trench so that a minimum of four inches of soil is used to seal the covered area.  After the sheet is in place and prior to the introduction of methyl bromide into the area to be treated, the plastic sheet is carefully inspected for any breaks or defects in the plastic sheet.
